Why Hire a Military Spouse?

The military spouse brings vision, experience and diversity to the workplace. She is loyal; he is resourceful. Your business will greatly benefit from the professional contributions of the military spouse.

How do we know this?

A 2007 RAND Study, in conjunction with the National Defense Research Institute, published a report entitled “Working Around the Military” Revisited, looking at military spouse employment issues. The study revealed that when compared to a civilian spouse of similar status and goals, the military spouse was a more qualified and loyal employee.

Here are some highlights of that comparative study:

A Military Spouse:

  • Actually moves less than a traditional employee
  • Is more likely to bring ethnic diversity to the workplace
  • Is more educated than their civilian counterpart; many hold advanced degrees
  • Stays with an employer as long or longer than a traditional employee
  • Is a readily available workforce
  • Claims responsibility for 20 to 40% of the household income

The Military Spouse:

Embraces challenges
Has emotional resilience
Deals well with uncertainty
Is comfortable with transition
Does not require benefits
Is flexible
Is dedicated
Is loyal
Has highly valued skills
Is volunteer-minded
Is resourceful
Is organized
Has a diverse background
Shows professionalism
Wants to work for you!

The MSCC Recommends…

The MSCC, through a quarterly Career Tracks Seminar, meets highly qualified and focused military spouses who desire to imbed themselves in this community.

We will periodically be contacting you to refer these spouses for potential employment. We hope to help you pre-qualify these potential job candidates as they complete our Career Tracks seminars with clear goals and career focus.

We look forward to helping build our business community with highly-skilled employees who are also our local military spouses.

Thank you for your help!
